Singer Jimmy Buffett falls off the stage in Sydney, taken to hospital

AFTER singing "It's been a lovely cruise, I'm sorry it's ended" singer Jimmy Buffett crashed off the stage after his final Sydney concert last night and was rushed to hospital with a head injury.

Shocked fans at the sell-out concert at the Hordern Pavilion were urged to leave the auditorium by Buffett's Australian tour manager Michael Chugg as the 64-year-old entertainer lay on the floor in front of the first row of seating waiting for paramedics and an ambulance to arrive.

He was rushed to Sydney's St Vincent's Hospital, in Darlinghurst, thirty minutes after the accident.

Neither Chugg nor his assistant David Pope would comment on Buffett's condition at the scene but an audience member said it appeared the entertainer had struck his head and was bleeding as he lay on the floor.

3. Darn! Sorry this happened to one of my favorite singers!
Have lots of his CDs and love watching him perform. The consummate entertainer, IMO.

Be well, Jimmy!

Peace and blessings

5. I hope he's OK. They should put crash pads under stages if they are a certain height - but
that would mean more regulations....

7. I wonder how soon someone will post a video of the fall.
You know, so we can all point and laugh.

8. If this had happened to a very popular pop star instead of a DU fave like Buffett
Everyone would either be saying WGAS or outright laughing about it.

Funny how, when "teh stupid" happens to an icon of the Baby Boomer era, it's cause for concern and "news" on the greatest page.

10. TMZ has video. He apparently misjudged the distance to the end of the stage,

fell hard enough to be knocked out for 10-15 minutes (fairly serious concussion, at the least), and suffered a nasty head wound as well.

This accident is not funny in any way, and I've been disgusted by some comments I've seen posted here and in LBN.

I'm praying he'll be okay and make a full, quick recovery.

12. This TMZ article explains there was "a huge flash of light" from the concert lighting
that apparently made it impossible for Jimmy to see, just before he fell.

13. Of COURSE it's funny!
I learned that right here, on DU. When people fall down it's high-larious! And if you don't point and laugh along with everyone else, there's something wrong with you.
