Can America be saved??

Is it really as bad as some people seem to think?

Shouldn't we all be more optimistic?

Shouldn't we all have more faith in our leaders?

Are you pessimistic or optimistic about our leaders fixing our economy and putting people back to work?

Why do you feel that way?

11. I think our political class (and the people who own them)

have, for the most part, become completely disconnected from the rest of us. Their concerns are no longer our concerns. Their reality is not our reality.

I have no faith in our leaders anymore

It doesn't bode well for the future - I think historians will look back and see the Bush years as the trigger marking the decline of the USA as a first tier world power. Outside of our military, that is - which is the most frightening thing of all - an empire in decline, rotting from within, teetering toward fascism (the friendly sort, of course) - that still is the world's preeminent military power

I think historians will look back and see the Bush years as the final step in the decline of America. I think the Reagan years will be seen as the catalyst for the Bush years. Thirty years of decline for average working people, with the huge credit and debt scams - from credit cards to easy mortgages - and the huge transfer of wealth to the very top.

With the successful selling of the "global economy" theory, they were able to win a long-sought capitalist dream, low labor around the world.

(on edit) Or perhaps historians will see the Obama years as the final step of decline? America needed a strong leader to lead us away from the abyss, and to bring justice and fairness back to our country. Those that pull the strings have effectively divided the Democratic leaders from the Republican leaders, and vice-versa, and so long as they have their division, they control the world....the whole world.

I think Obama will be seen as a weak President who could have reversed the tide instead of being co-opted by it
