Can't believe he took over the 'hole' KO left. There had to be tons of better choices. What's up with that?

40. I like him
He doesn't back down, makes a lot of sense. What's not to like? I'd be willing to bet the guy will have a more "common-man" appeal too, much like Ed.

I saw Sam Seder sitting in for Keith the other day, and though I wasn't a big fan of him on Air America, I really kind of enjoyed him while he was sitting in for Keith.

I was thinking, however, they really need to run a rabid liberal lady in there. (besides Rachel)

Matthews has been doing it so much lately that it is getting very irritating.

60. Becoming??
Geez, where you been? Plus you never know which way the wind is going to blow him from one day to the next. He seems kind of ideologically void at times.

They need to hire a fairly liberal lady to fill one of his slots. Alison Stewart would be cool, but she's on NeedtoKnow. It'd be hard to get anyone to jump on what may become a sinking ship anyway. (MSNBC)

41. Yes Sir
There is more to being a Democrat than putting a (D) by your name, and talking about how great they are--you've got to actually hold some democratic values, bringing manufacturing home, better wages for the lower half, and a general concern for the welfare of people outside of the millionaire class.

This is something Republicans realize. It's a big F-ing tug-of-war. If you aren't pulling, if you don't have people out on the left pulling back, then you either stay put, or when they are surging, you get pulled to the right. You will never, ever, move a little to the left, by always straddling the fence.

So yes, we prefer democrats to republicans, but we want our democrats to act like, um...democrats, and when they don't we're not going to slavishly worhsip them, we're going to call them to task.

Edited on Thu Jan-27-11 07:56 PM by bluestate10
Even when Obama had little to do with a policy, Cenk finds a way to give Obama at least 50% credit for the fuck-up. His tendency in this regard is tiring, in particular when he often let mouth breathing rightwingers off the hook on his show.

13. Because he is always looking to complain about something....
and not simply telling us the news (and usually raising his annoying voice at the same time). I guess he feels he can make alot of money complaining about things. You don't make the big bucks with big ratings any other way. Plus, he is one of those liberals who thinks Obama is the king and can simply put in place any law he wants whenever the hell he wants too without approval from congress (i.e., closed down Guantanimo - when in reality its congress preventing Obams from doing this because they won't give him the money to do it - no congressman wants a "terrorist" in their state/jurisdiction). Obama does not have a supermajority like other Dem presidents had and those other Dem presidents did not have to dilute bills because of the 24/7 threat of fillubusters). This is what Liberals like Cenk do not understand....it's about getting with reality and looking at the long game.

44. I Don't Think That is True
I just think he wants Obama to use the bully pulpit to pull things back to the left a bit. If there is a problem with Democrats they are too focused on getting reelected, and not on doing what the majority of us want.

Part of that battle is in getting the most vocal democrat, the president, to say the things he needs to say, to get us moving in the direction we want.

Check out some of FDRs old speeches if you want to get what I mean. We need some of that, not some of the "Get an education you lout and you'll get a job," or "We need to compete with third world children making a dollar an hour, let's go we can do it ya'll!!"

There is nothing I'd like better. And stop trying to please all the corporations, get us out of the wars, slash the military budget, put the onus of our problems where they are, and stop blaming your own base for wanting you to stand up for us all, to act like you actually care about the poor more than Goldman Sachs.

36. The Congresswoman is Margi Kaptur.
She is liberal, but was one of the democrats that wanted to push Nancy Pelosi out as democratic House leader. Kaptur is smart, part of the younger generation and she is tough as nails, she beat back a tough republican challenge by standing up full square for the things that she believes in and did not back down. I think that her opponent dressed up as an SS reenact, which certainly did not hurt Kaptur.

The type of show they have him doing isn't his strong suit. He doesn't enunciate as well as the usual polished TV types and the rapid-fire format TV execs seem to like these days isn't a good fit for him. He would be better in a more informal situation doing interviews, like he does on his web-cast show.

I generally always agree with his positions on various topics and he is very well informed. Give the guy a break, he's filling in.

Ratigan on M$NBComcast one time and thought he was mediocre there. Seemed like they were holding him back then though. If he's got his own show maybe they've cut him loose creatively.

I might have to check his show out, once I find out what happened to Keith. I'm not watching M$NBComcast until I find out the circumstances of his departure.

Pretty good considering there has been zero marketing (Cenk isn't even listed in the MSNBC primetime commercials) and the show doesn't even have an official name, his own customized team and set, etc.
