Vice President says unemployed should ‘hang in there’


Yahoo! asked Vice President Joe Biden Thursday to give some good advice for the unemployed. He provided a list of recent improvements to the economy, while expressing sympathy for those struggling to get by without a regular income.

"So the message is 'hang in there?'" Yahoo!'s Anna Robertson asked.

"The message is hang in there," he repeated.

Republicans gained traction in last year's election by asking "where are the jobs?" and highlighting Americans' dissatisfaction with the economy. GOP Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin also made the jobs question as the focus of his State of the Union response this week.

19. We're hangin' - at the neighborhood scrap yard that is.....

Loaded up a bunch of leftover steel hubby had laying around and took down a single wide over the past couple weeks for a friend. Bonus was the roof was made entirely of aluminum!

From steelwork/welder of over 35 years to scraping metal at the salvage yard.

BTW, scrap yard always seems to have a HUGE line of cars, old pick-up trucks from neighborhood folks along with the construction trucks. Men and lots of women and kids. Hubby was in line for about an hour and a half not long ago. We haven't been scraping for long so not sure if this is normal or not

I haven't seen any aluminum cans on the side of the road or anywhere like we used to, come to think of it.

I wonder if this is another sign of the desperation and our economic depression. Any one know? Curious about the activity levels of salvage yards around the country.

My job (I work at night for a utility contractor - I keep the lights on) takes me into every neighborhood out there. I've been seeing trucks loaded with scrap parked for the night in neighborhoods you wouldn't expect to see them in. I think that's a bad sign.

Why not say 'We know it is tough, and we are going to bail you out and extend benefits and insure that your funds - like with did with the banks and other companies - do not dry up'

It's not so much what the Obama administration doesn't do, although that's part of it - it's what they affirmatively do when it's in their best interests.
