Why is it so many here hate Chase Bank?

They just offered my household a credit card with "unlimited cash" back...

Sounds pretty good to me - as if I did get unlimited cash back, I know a few school districts I could bail out.

Anyway, feel free to vent!

1. I hate all banks... no need to discriminate...
That said, I think their Chase Sapphire card is sort of "purty"... at least it looks like it on my monitor. ;)

2. I hate all the big banksters equally.....not just Chase, though I do have a special place....
..... in the coldest chamber of my heart for them, because I had a Chase VISA for several years and it was nothing but HELL. You'd be better off going to one of those payday loan places.

12. So if I am reading in between the lines of your post correctly -
I am probably not going to be getting "unlimited cash" back!?!

But, They Promised!

3. I'm guessing this may be the new 'kinder, gentler' Chase. They're trying to
repair their rep and keep customers. Again, just my guess.

4. Banks have the same
impact as a heard of those dreaded, flying elephant mosquitoes. Parasites with a lot of sucking power.

What's to like?

5. I hate'em because they're always trying to push stuff on me
I sent their credit card back and asked to get off their mailing list. when I go to the bank, the clerks ask again about credit cards and I try to explain I only want and have a debit card, but they won't leave me along. Mail keeps coming.

They won't send my cashed checks back to cut down on paper and mail, so they say, but I could fill a wastebasket in 2 months with junk mail from Chase...

Their clerks get paid almost nothing, hardly get fulltime, and the CEO's clean up - same with all banks.

6. Had a Chase MC in the mid 80s- 90s
never was able to pay it down until I closed the account and never got another one. It's been debit cards for me for 10+ years now.

13. I am wi/ you on that. Though Debit cards are hard to get -
The banks always end up sneaking in some newer "credit" features into them the second you quit paying attention.

9. They were stealing money from me, literally.
Edited on Fri Jan-28-11 04:00 PM by NYC Liberal
They were taking $12 out of my account every month for some "service" multiple representatives at Chase confirmed I had never signed up for and that I should not have been billed for. Yet every month, $12 came out of my account.

11. No clue, they have always
lived up to their contractual obligations with me, when the contract ended and they proposed a new one with terms I did not care for, I opted to cancel and go with a different credit provider.

Of course I am probably in the minority of people who actually read those 5 pages of 6pt font in the contract before I sign it.

15. I was a card-holder since 1975, but the first time my payment arrived three days after the due date,
they socked me with late payment fees, then charging me for the time it took my payment of those fees to arrive and be processed! Is that the way Chase rewards customer loyalty?

16. I imagine that the sort of person who helped develop
Customer programs way back in 1975, they were long since "retired" by the time your mistreatment occurred. Even in the eighties, banks were rather responsible and didn't try andd set things up as though they were vultures and we were the fresh dead meat.

I haven't had a credit card in years, but the last two years I had them, (2005,2006) getting help resolving problems was nigh impossible. The entire banking industry was being run in a predatory style, and I for one will never again own a credit card. (Unless of course, we nationalize the banks.)
