A more isolationist/religious fundamentalist party seizes power in the country?

1. Depends.

My reaction would regardless be one of disappointment at a lost opportunity.

The U.S. reaction would be based on whether the new leadership plays ball according to U.S. (corporate) rules.

Would the young population of Egypt allow for a less secular power group take hold?

places as well. Most of them will be fundamentalists. Uprisings attract ugly people.

For all of Mubarak's fault's he did somewhat liberalize Egyptian policy and allow for more accessible peace talks in the middle east right?

Not saying I support him, and a 30 year rule is about 22 years too long for any President, but what if this goes sour? Would we rather had a glad hander or a guy hell bent of turning westerners out?

I really can't answer that question. I have nothing to do with

foreign policy in the government. If history is a guide, they'll support the current government far beyond the point they should, then try to deal with whatever takes its place. We're not very good at Middle East stuff here.

10. As long as the Suez is open, Israel isn't invaded, and tourism/archeology isn't stopped

Then "the world" can deal with whomever, but if the hard line fundamentalists who assassinated Sadat get into power they might not feel like playing nice.

If the security situation in Suez gets bad then the EU and the USA will get involved.

6. As far as the U.S. goes

We'd pretty much have to take it and like it. It's not as though we have any credibility or prestige to spend right now, and our military is in no position to be projected anywhere else.
