20. One woman was raped by the police in FULL view

...

The actions of the police and security forces incited the protestors to respond by setting fire to tyres, cars and finally government buildings.

The brutality of the authorities' is unprecedented. In a disturbing incident, CNN reporters were attacked by the secret (plain clothes Police) and their cameras stolen together with the footage. One CNN reporter recalls a disturbing and unsavory incident, "a female protestor is dragged off by her hair , taken to a side street and sexually assaulted by the police in full public view".

This account of the ladies treatment was widely aired and is living testimony to the reprehensible, indifferent, barbaric, criminal treatment of citizens by the authorities. Such violations warrant independent investigations and must never pass with out accountability.

...

"Mubarak's actions today will never be forgotten" said Mona from Alexandria, "we have lost all respect for him, the Egyptian people will always hate him and we will never stop demanding he leave us alone, we don't want him, we just want change we are not criminals for him to treat us like this, why? Why does he treat us like animals".

11. I had heard on BBC about how women are involved in this protest as well, but much more behind the
lines -- blogging, tweeting, setting up communications, providing support operations, and so on. Some of it is typical "women's work," and some of it is hugely vital and a direct part of the protest. I found great comfort in hearing that -- the vast majority of the pictures I have seen show crowds where the vast majority of protesters are male. But visual perception, as powerful as it is, is not always reality.

18. I just saw some women on the live feed
they are wearing headscarfs and dark clothes so they kind of blend in. One woman was directly facing the camera and waving her fists.

19. Most of the protesters are extrimist sects.
Therefore the women are not allowed to participate. But I will bet there are more than a few, wearing headscarfs who blend into the crowd.

23. One DU'er mentioned earlier this is driven by the youth.
But this isn't supported by the pictures, as it appears to be men of all ages (and the occasional woman). I saw a lot of middle-aged and even older men out there raging against the machine.
