Prudential Ceases Advertising On Glenn Beck’s Program

A while back Prudential ads ran on Glenn Beck’s Fox News show. As with other advertisers, participants in the StopBeck effort reached out to Prudential. We kindly requested that they follow the responsible action of hundreds of other advertisers and refrain from advertising on Glenn Beck’s show.

In statement obtained by the StopBeck effort, Prudential advised that they would no longer advertise on Glenn Beck’s show (emphasis added):

Prudential is very proud of its heritage and values. We are careful not to associate our brand with programs that might be construed as controversial or distasteful. Prudential advertises on Fox News channel because it delivers a large and very diverse audience. However, we do have a strict 8 p.m. cutoff specifically to avoid the personality-driven op-ed programming that airs in the prime time slot.

Some of our advertising is purchased directly with Fox. In those cases, we have full control over ad placement. Some advertising, however, is purchased through a third-party vendor that places ads in local markets across multiple cable networks. In such cases, we do not have full control over program placement, but we have instructed our vendor partner to avoid the Glenn Beck program. We reiterated our desire to our vendor today.
