I've been awaiting the first phone-cam/Twitter/Facebook conflict for some years now. It was just a matter of time before we moved from the Vietnam War with film from the day before, to the Gulf War, with its peripheral live camera shots, to the Iraq War with Baghdad exploding around us and 'embedded' (propagandistic) "journalists", to this Webcam-Revolution in Egypt. There's little point in the networks filtering horrors, since it's up on Youtube anyway in a matter of seconds and that films like Schwarzenegger's (Ironically) The Running Man have already been eclipsed.

Toffler was right, but had no idea how fast all this would happen...the rate of change of the rate of change is now unimaginable....

My GF and I were talking about this last night. You can go back even further: to newspapers in WWI and radio in WWII, and then on into your timeline.
