For everyone who has been asking where the women of Egypt are! I´m trying to compile all the photos with Egyptian women in them.

A homage to all those women out there fighting, and whose voices and faces are hidden from the public eye!

p.s. few of these photos were compiled by me, the rest were sent by people from all over after I published the album! I´m so grateful for everyone who is sending me photos and links, tagging me..etc.

p.s. 2 I´m trying to confirm that all of these photos are from Egypt, if I publish any by mistake, forgive me! All revolutions are one in the end!

I was trying to get these pictures off of Face Book and onto DU, but I couldn't figure out how. I'm so glad that everyone on DU can see them now.
My daughter and I looked at these photos together and we cried with joy and fear for these brave Angels of the revolution.

Amazing the ignorance about other cultures sometimes in this country. But I blame Fox for that, and the rest of the MSM. However, people have an obligation to do their own research.

The 'women' question seems to be a 'talking point' as it just keeps popping up. I was going to use my thread to produce as soon as it did. I got tired posting photos every time I saw the question.

I was going to include that in the thread on women along with the tweet, supplied below by EFerarri as I had lost it. Maybe the woman who is putting together the album on FB could include it, and the tweet. I get so sick of that question.

There were so many women involved in the Tunisian revolution also. Every kind of woman, young, old, wearing all kinds of different clothes. I guess you don't see what you don't want to see.

Perhaps there aren't throngs of women out on the streets as many seem to wish. But while those women are home watching the kids, who's to say they aren't monitoring the situation at home. Crowds that large can't communicate with each other easily in different areas--someone is somewhere observing at a distance and possibly coordinating things.

The protesters are tired and hungry, too--just because Egyptian women aren't out en masse on the streets doesn't mean they aren't making a contribution. Cooking, keeping the house, and taking care of the kids are DAMN important jobs--and it's insulting to anyone who chooses to do so for us to think that they aren't.

Now is a good time to consider the importance of "women's work," no matter who is doing it.

and helping to organize. I was surprised by the question frankly as I noticed many women in the photos from the beginning, even women wearing burqas, some in western clothes etc. It was wonderful, showing that this truly is about basic human rights that they have all been denied.

being Iranian, I think many of us Western women would be surprised at the strength of many Muslim women--even SOME (though certainly not all) who choose to wear burqas and the hijab. I know I was--including a lawyer I know here in the US who wears a burqa (sans face covering).

any efforts for the dictator to stay in power now that the people have spoken so clearly.

But, you are right, this could be another Tiananmen Square if the world turns away from the people.

It is all the more reason now why the U.S Government must cut off all support for the man who we know will crack down on the protestors, using torture and imprisonment and death to get revenge as soon as the cameras go away and if he is left in power.

The U.S. and the other western nations have a moral obligation to the people of Egypt NOT to continue to support this dictator.

37. Well that would be pretty pathetic.

He can explain if he wishes. I assumed he meant that they would be slaughtered for rising up against the dictator, which I am afraid is almost a guarantee. That is how dictators stay in power and if the U.S. allows it to happen, they will be as responsible as he will be.

The first woman Pharaoh, Hatshepsut, is probably looking out from her famous tomb and is beaming with pride at her daughters. Hatshepsut was famous for leading Egyptian troops into battle herself, and was an excellent warrior.

42. 189 women in those photos. Out of thousands, tens of thousands on the streets.

I know I'm going to get majorly slammed here but I counted every single woman, and several of those photos are of the same women except from a different angle, but no mind - I counted them AGAIN - and there are still a miniscule fraction of women in these photos. And we don't even know for sure if all of these photos are from this revolution - the FB author admits this.

I believe we are not doing great service for ourselves as "truth tellers" when we distort what is obvious on the screen.

While I applaud these brave women, I am afraid of their disenfranchisement in the future. There are far too few of them in these crowds as much as we desperately want it to be different.

I see the same crowd shots as anyone else and there is a very (VERY) small percentage of women compared to the men. I've seen the posts that decry any pointing out this truth as somehow "bigoted" but there are larger issues here for the women of Egypt, and this feminist is worried.

46. I'm worried that Egyptian women are already tacitly agreeing to "subservient" roles.

I'm worried that the women of Egypt, by NOT appearing in force, indicates to the religious fundamentalist fringe groups waiting to seize power, that the women of Egypt ARE subservient - and thus are marginalized like in Iran. If they aren't seen as part of the change, they will not be accorded any power in the change.

Unseen women, invisible women, women shrouded in burkhas tend to be accorded second class status. I have deep unease. My experience with Muslim women leads me to believe that they aren't the most ferocious advocates for their rights. Oh sure, there are those few who were stalwart, but the vast majority acquiesce and I fear for the them. Neda was a powerful woman, with a powerful image in her death. But ultimately, her voice wasn't "powerful" enough because other women didn't immediately jump out to protest her singular death (I'm not talking about female pundits, I mean the masses of women who could/would/should have cried out in vengeance).

Power vacuums (and I believe that's a reasonable expectation WHEN Mubarrek steps down) tend to favor those who have the most insistent voices and powerful presence. Women who are invisible will not be factored in.

I saw on the screen a photo in Cairo, Egyptians where holding a HUGE banner that said: "Yes We Can TOO "
Anyone know if that was from today?
Or from the rally when Obama was there giving his speech?
