The truth is that the man who threw the shoe
at Bush, the Cairo speech by Obama, unemployment, disastrous socio-economic and political conditions imposed by neo-liberal and pro-imperialist puppets, the sheer guts of one man in Tunisia and the fearlessness of the Egyptian people have brought us to this moment.

This may be the beginning of the end of the Reagan era policy - the first significant revolutions since the fall of the Berlin war.
I am hoping that that President Obama's warnings to Mubarak and the army could be the most significant shift in US policy in the Middle East in decades. It could also be the beginning of the end of the neo-liberals and their pro-imperialist puppets. It is true that atrocities continue in Afghanistan, but fundamental change in Egypt where the army does not attack the citizens is a radical departure in and of itself, and a very pleasant small step.

I have come here to Cairo to seek a new beginning.

2. K&R...and while I agree with the spirit of your post,
you have overlooked the Populist Revolutions that have been sweeping across South and Central America since the late 90s.
They have been nothing short of near bloodless revolutions as country after country have said "NO!" to American Imperialism, Right Wing US Puppet governments, and the Global Banks and Predatory Corporations.

VIVA Democracy!
I pray we get some here soon!

3. I'm not ignoring them, but I'm speaking about the
Middle East and North Africa.

5. the man who threw the shoe served time in prison.
More time than the mass murderering warmongers Bush and Cheney did.

Since the elite in Egypt operate pretty much the same way as Bush and Cheney, it was only a matter of time before people got fed up and decided to get rid of Mubarak and his whole rotten group.

6. True but who exactly did they inspire

Who considers either of them a hero or a revolutionary?

Mubarak is Reagan's puppet - Bush 1 owned him and he was a key ally of Bush and Cheney.
