Reports of Mubarak wealth at $40 billion, begs the question:

Will the U.S. assist the Egyptian people with getting their money back? Public servants do not accumulate wealth measured in billions without stealing from the people.

I would hope that the U.S. government will freeze all assets held by Mubarak family members, and companies under their control, until a true accounting can occur.

That would be right thing to do, would it not?

The U.S. government froze Iranian assets, surely they'll do the same with Mubarak assets.

If they do not, I'd be interested to hear how they rationalize not doing so.

5. That's exactly what I was thinking - he pocketed a billion per year

of OUR money, that was intended for the Egyptian people. Any financial crumbs left on the table after he and his family finished gorging, were probably spent on the military.

14. America's morality IS flexible. It's been going on for years. The

administrations are more concerned about making deals that serve us well than in making a statement or being true to our beliefs.

That's why, IMO, they're wishy-washy in their statements. They want to get the point across but don't want to alienate another power that we need on our side.

To think otherwise is setting ourselves up for disappointment. And believe me, I'm constantly disappointed anyway even though I get the politics at play (as far as a citizen can "get" it).
