1. Initially strong political opposites but wife is coming my way more and more...

2. I dare say....

....my hagilicious wife is today, a conservative....when she was younger she used to be a political agnostic, never caring much for politics....

....but as she's gotten older and more contentious, I find her positioning herself more and more with reactionaries....her family has always been a hot-bed of reactionaries....me, being the only Socialist around, I find getting drunk at one of her familys' gatherings, a very exciting experience....

4. No longer married but my ex was liberal. My last serious GF was ultra liberal.

There have been some rw'ers in there as well, though. There was one that was self described as 'ultra conservative' and fully 'hannitized'. She was also a teacher, which to me, made that kind of odd.

7. Should I admit I am true blue Liberal and have been married to

a moderate Republican a long long time. I figured most of
you had guessed since I understand where Republicans are
coming from. Actually, my husband can be liberal on some
issues. He does not see Democrats as evil. Has some good
things to say about Obama.

I have written before all Republicans are not like that
bunch inhabiting Capital Hill at the present time.

20. You know TBF, I think that more and more of the ............

"liberal" types are seeing that it's useless trying to "tame" the beast. Maybe they're not there YET, but they are getting there slowly, but surely.

That's one reason I advocate on this board so much. You've got to start SOMEWHERE in advocacy/education so you might as well start with people who are CLOSER, but not quite there yet.

21. Taming the beast -

that is the frustrating thing on most of these political forums, it attracts folks who are willing to work with the status quo (which is known as "bipartisanship" these days). I am looking forward to the day when normal folks in this country, who ignore organized politics, are ready to get in the street. It's the only way things will change.

16. I guess Liberal married to a Moderate makes the most sense...

though my husband is far from a typical Moderate. He's socially as liberal as I am (and I'm extremely socially liberal). But, he takes things on a individual-issue basis. So, there are certain things about which he's slightly less liberal.

It's a far cry from when we dated: he was pretty conservative fiscally, supported the war (until he realized it was a sham)...his family totally blames me.

As every election rolls around I tell Mr Howler "Our marital contract is up for renewal" LOL!
We are both liberal though I'm more of a lefty then Mr Howler,He voted for edwards in the primary.
I still gently razz him about that.

When I first started FB chatting with my now-husband (who was my high school boyfriend and found me via the miracle of the Book of Face), I warned him that we shouldn't discuss politics. He laughed and directed me to his blog. Turns out he's a DUer, with links on his blog to Bartcop, Rude Pundit, et al.

I can think of lots of things to fight about (although we haven't had a fight yet after being together for 2-1/2 yrs), but politics won't be among them.
