True, the uprising in Egypt is far larger than it was in CHina.. Even tho it is rumored, that the uprising of the students was also spreading to other parts of China.. Quite a few City's in the interiour of China was closed down for weeks untill the Bejing case was closed once and for all.. Mostly becouse the students there was also part of a uprising.. Something that the current and then leaders of China feared more than everything else.. They know what social unrest can do, to a country where "social harmony" have been the ruling guidlines for centuries... The current leaders in China, are the grandsons/dauthers of the same men who was revolting against the THEN leaders of Cina, and they know really well that the social contract between the communist party, and the chinese pepole could, and can end up in open revolt if not enough of them are content with the life they are living... In some cases, we can say that the current Chinese leadership, is the current Chinese dynasti.. Even tho it is not any emperor on the top, many of the same systems are in place, as they allways have been in China for more than a thousand year... The Communist party are the current emperors, and the current leadership are really afraid of social unrest who can undermine their own suport in the public.. After all even a Mao could not have risen to the top of China, withouth the chinese support from the masses.. No one can rule China for long, if they have not the support from the masses.. And that is something they know about...
I was a young kid in 1989, Im was starting in 6 grade, so I have to say I was not so interesting in most of what happend there then.. But some of it I managed to get a hold on, And I rembember some parts of it... But after as I grew up I read a lot more about Tiamen Square, and what happend in the end, when the uprising was ending in bloodbath... Many students are still missing, rumored to be in remote parts of China, under hevy guard, most posible for the rest of their natural life...
On the other side, Tiamen Square started also the opening of China, to the rest of the world.. Even so carefull the chinese leadership have managed to open the gates, withouth the floodwater drowing them in the prosess.. And today China is a country who would posible outmaster the rest of the world in a couple of centuries.. Some claim that US would be outmatched by CHina by 2020... But I for one doubt that, mostly becouse China, outside the big City's is still a rather poor country, with a lot of disfrancished farmes who have no share of the wealth the middle and upper classes are building up.. Mostly the farmeres are poor, and even in the Big City's most people is rather poor to most standards in the west.. But of course that wil change, and the middle class in China is bigger than the US (Who it looks have been schrining for the last 3 decades).. But even tho the ECONOMICAL life have been reformed, and are now more capitalistic than most capitalistic country - the political controll are still in the firm hand of the communist party.. And somehow I doubt that Chinas Communist Party are anyone near the posibility that they want to release THAT power to the public... As long as the pepole is content with the posibility of beeing a millionare, or maybe even a billionare, the communist party wil be in firm controll of the ruling of the country - and as events the last couple of years have shown, as long as you keep it to the money no one wil harm you.. But if you danger the POLITICAL ledership int he country, you are in deep troubles.. And some have had to flee the country, to US and other country's who want them.. Or end up in a prison for a long time.. Not nessesary becouse they have been doing some crimes, but becouse they have messing with politic.. You just don't do that in China.. If you are not member of the communist party that is... And have the right type of connections...
