No, nobody has said that... but if they are going to the SInai... it is not to quell anything but to keep somebody safe. You use the most loyal troops for that.

I doubt that Mubarak would let the Army anywhere near him. Remember what happened to his predecessor.
He has a Presidential Guard (22000 strong) to protect him.
