Can anyone give me a clear definition of a Conservative Woman?
How do they define themselves? What is the difference?
Because in the past few months I have become completely baffled.
I have some friends who label themselves as such. And to me they are far from my notion of it.
I am accused of being the wild-child but in reality I think my ideas and opinions and life views are the wild thing, while my activities are pretty prudish.

4. I think it's more masochistic
That is, if I remember my college psych courses correctly. It was a long time ago, though, and Dr. Freud wasn't always comprehensible with that thick accent of his.

6. So my thinking recently has been:
Anything that makes hetero males the center of attention. The catering to them, adopting the same viewpoints.
This one has no qualms about sending naked pics of herself to guys, serial dates and has a string of random sexual partners, but brags about going to Church and had an absolute heart attack when I suggested dancing at a gay bar one night, so we could be left alone and have fun!!

21. Without knowing too many details
Your acquaintance sounds rather immature, like she hasn't progressed socially past high school. Sophomore year or so. It wasn't an issue when I was that age, but sending the naked pictures is something that could really come back to bite her should she ever get past her sowing the wild oats stage. She may have grown up in a very repressed household, which informs her self-opinion about her political leanings, but is now the source for her inability to control impulses that she's had since high school but couldn't act on until now. I suppose a little disgust and a "How old are you?" expression might be all I'd venture to express.

3. You'd probably get a better definition by asking them directly
If they label themselves as such they'd likely be happy to tell you

7. I mean from what I've seen
They go to Church, but don't live by it, they show no empathy for others, they are centered around the male ego.

12. a wife of a man of moderate success who likes her lifestyle
and would sacrifice anyone who threatened it.
This is the same person that would have an abortion if she found herself in need of one--yet would deny anyone else the right to have one.
The same woman who would also seek one for her daughter yet smear the reputation of your daughter if she needed one.
The same woman who feels any government entitlement to you is a handout, yet if her family needed it it would be because they deserved it.
The same woman who sits in the front pew at church singing the praises of Jesus while sneering at the homeless man on the corner.
In other words, generally a fucking hypocrite.

14. I think another question is why some women are conservative.
What is it about conservative policy that attracks some women.

19. There are two kinds of conservatives
And this applies to men, as well.

The first is the religious kind, the one who votes primarily on cultural issues, like equal rights for gay and lesbian people. She does what she's told, and her husband does what his pastor tells him to do.

The other kind is what I call the country-clubber Republicon, they always want less taxes, and less spending (unless it's on their pet causes) and they don't much care about social issues. They have gay people as friends, and they think (privately) that abortion is a jim-dandy way to get rid of possible welfare babies.

The two sides are able to accommodate each other to combine politically to get what they want, even though each side distrusts the other quite a bit.

That's my experience with conservatives, does it help you understand them a bit better?

22. Really, I think today's "conservative woman" rejects the stereotype of what liberal women are...
Edited on Mon Feb-14-11 12:14 PM by Liberal_Stalwart71
The stereotype of liberal women:

1. They are unattractive
2. They cannot attract a man
3. They are loud, boisterous
4. They are masculine
5. They are domineering, tend to emasculate men
6. They reject marriage, kids and the domestic life and/or look down on any woman who makes that choice

You already know all the stereotypes. I, as a black woman and a liberal, have to defend myself all the time. No, I do not reject black men, nor do I think that feminists hate all men.

Because "liberal" has become such a pejorative in today's society, I think those women who claim to be conservative are so because they reject any notion of liberalism. They embrace conservativism as an ideal of what they've been led to believe is bad about liberalism.

Most of them are hypocrites.
