House bans welfare recipients from using state debit cards at strip club ATMs

Lawmakers had some fun today while giving initial approval to a bill banning those on public assistance from using strip club ATMs to get their money.

...
Rep. Wes McKinley, D-Walsh, questioned the need to add strip clubs.

“When you do sign up for welfare, you have kind of sold your soul to the state,” he said, but added he thought House Bill 1058 was “judgmental.”

1. Being country
I went to a few strip bars when I was in the navy but it always embarrassed me for some reason. I always felt like I gotta get out of here, nothing but a bunch of weirdo's in there. I don't go to strip clubs, don't do porn, don't do gamble, hell that must make me Christian except I don't do religion either.

3. The guy who proposed that is from Colorado Springs.
The Springs is infested with religiwhackos. It is home to such organizations as "Focus on the Family", if that gives you any idea of what it's like there. It's not surprising that they'd elect a self-righteous kook like this guy to represent them. This is just another one of the Religious Right's made-up, bullshit dog-whistles, like Reagan's "welfare queens driving Cadillacs", and various state bans on "Sharia law".

5. Are unemployed benefits also paid with a state issued debit card?
They are here. So if this was a law in my state, the unemployed would also be banned from using these ATMs.

6. So strippers on welfare won't have access to their money in their workplaces.

Strip club ATM's are the ones with the highest fees though. People who really go to strip clubs know to draw out cash and get it changed into singles before you go to the club. The only people who use those ATM's there are the RNC "space cadets" who draw out their trust fund money while they are on their field trip with Michael Steele.

Same thing with gambling bookies and liquor stores. The gambling addicts and alcoholics aren't the ones who use those ATM's.
