By Gabriel Weinstein - A group of activists delivered Valentine’s Day cookies and balloons to the Spanish embassy hoping to encourage the Spanish government to prosecute former U.S. government officials who they say sanctioned torture.

Spanish judge Eloy Velasco must decide by March 1 if Spain will prosecute former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, former head of the Department of Justice Office of Legal Counsel Jay Bybee, chief of staff to former vice president Dick Cheney David Addington, former Department of Defense general counsel William Haynes, former Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Douglas Feith and John Yoo, a former member of Bybee’s staff, for encouraging the use of torture.
