Russia Cannot Support Further Sanctions On Iran – Lavrov
LONDON, February 15 (Itar-Tass) -- Russia cannot support further sanctions on Iran, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Tuesday.

“Further sanctions will exacerbate the Iranian economic status. We cannot support that,” he said. “Sanctions declared outside the UN Security Council by the United States and the European Union undermine the joint work in the 3+3 format. If we agree on a common position, there must be no deviations from it,” he said.

Moscow thinks that ‘creative ideas’ must supplement the principles elaborated in the 3+3 group, Lavrov said. “It is important to make clear that the Iranian nuclear program has no military component. In that case, any doubts will be dismissed,” he said.

“If Iran meets any demands, the international community must meet it halfway,” he added.
