“Like the remarkable Barbara Bush, his (Poppy's) humility and his decency reflects the very best of the American spirit,” said Mr. Obama. “This is a gentleman.”

8. All things considered...that could (seem to) be true. Sadly.
Acceptance of torture. It's OK if the President does it mentality. Teabag politicians elected Governor and in Congress. Extending the Patriot Act...and so on and so forth.

Maybe people like Bush I & Bush II DO represent the true American spirit.

Horrible thought. Because it doesn't say much about us as a people if they do.

22. Barabara Bush on Katrina victims: "This is working very well for them.”
"Accompanying her husband, former President George H.W.Bush, on a tour of hurricane relief centers in Houston, Barbara Bush said today, referring to the poor who had lost everything back home and evacuated, “This is working very well for them.”

The former First Lady’s remarks were aired this evening on National Public Radio’s “Marketplace” program.

Then she added: “What I’m hearing is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality.

“And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this–this is working very well for them.”"

37. It's remarkable that President Obama's aides didn't remind him of the following
"But why should we hear about body bags and deaths and how many, what day it's going to happen, and how many this or what do you suppose? Oh, I mean, it's not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?" Barbara Bush

It will be my sig file in perpetuity. The woman that said it is not "remarkable". She's clueless.

I would expect more from my President.
