The repubs take over the House. They stick a knife in the table. They throw tantrums and demand things. They vilify the Democratic president.

They shut down the government.

They blink.

The Democratic president sees his approval skyrocket. He veers right and beats them at their own game, out-righting the right wingers.

Were it not for a blow job, we might not be seeing this remake of the old story.

But here we are. A decade and a half hence, living like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day.

It will turn out no better this time.

Except we'll be further right.
