and the pricks have given it low ratings.
For fucking veteran research.
http://www.thedailylight.com/articles/2011/02/20/opinion/doc4d60b666bc634605805432.txtAs the debate on spending continues, one area has remained fully funded — in theory. The Congressionally directed, treatment-focused Gulf War Illness Medical Research Program (CDMRP), will receive funding requests under the House Continuing Resolution Bill up for vote.
This funding will benefit Gulf War veterans in several ways.
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is found in epidemic proportions in Gulf War veterans. Eight million dollars have been delegated for ALS research. ALS is a presumptive condition for service-connection for any U.S. veteran.
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) funding is also included in the House version of the CR, at $4.8 million. There has been a definitive connection between Gulf War service and MS. Research will hopefully allow service-related benefits for more of these veterans. MS is a presumptive condition for VA service-connection now if it’s diagnosed within seven years of discharge from active duty.
Lung Cancer research would be funded at $12.8 million. Veterans are 25 to 75 percent more likely to develop some form of lung cancer than people who did not serve in the military. This is probably due to exposure to asbestos, depleted uranium and other combustible materials. Research will give us more information.
