Who is behind this?

Well it will not come as any surprise to any who has been following that the Koch brothers are behind this. But trutlyfully it is not just them, even if they are very good at funding things like the Tea Party... (Americans for Prosperity is managed by David Koch). The Right Wing in the United States (and I suspect at least in good portions in the West) wants to get rid of the 20th century. Read this again, they want to get rid of social safety nets, they want to get rid of labor righs, even I suspect human rights. Why? I could go and put a tin foil hat on, but reality is that we have seen the rise of an INTERNATIONAL management class, and that class really does not need a powerful middle class. They need a consuming class.

Now, consumerism has been the faith of the US for over two generations. It also led to a pretty docile class, that as long as it got it's pablum it was fine. But now the masses are rising. This is not just Winsconsin. This is a wrold wide phenomena. Whether this is the students in London marching, or Egyptian citizens taking to Tahrir square, or yes... US Citizens in Winsconsin, this is not what they expected.

This is important as people need to develop a global awareness of what is going on. It is not unlike 1848. It is fascilitaed by the social media, and it is here. We are living interesting times, the Chinese Curse, but also the success or failure of this will determine how our children will live. If they win, well get used to child labor and no minimum wage and the return to indentured servitude. I am sure they will use other names, alas they are not makng any secrets anymore that this is what they want. If we win... we'd better be damn alert because they are not done. The forces behind this want to abolish the 20th century and will not stop until they destroy us or we destroy them. This is the way they think. So get used to it.

Nadin, who is not amused at the echoes of US history straight from the Lidell Factory System.

5. If we the people decided we weren't going to buy cheaply made goods this would all be moot.
This is a result of our decision making. You want to save us from ourselves, but maybe we are the problem. We don't care what people are subjected to as long as we get the goods we want at the lowest possible price. Therefore we will consign ourselves to the same fate as those whose labor we enjoy.

It's kind of like the old adage you are what you eat. Except now it is you are what you consume.

6. Since the people set policy okie dokie
you realize that cheap goods are kind of forced on people making half what they made right?

Oh never mind. We should excuse the forces behind this and BLAME THE FUCKING VICTIM... how fucking predictable.

10. Doesn't it make sense that the price deflation of certain goods brought down the value of the labor
Behind those goods and that brought down wages in general?

According to your hypothesis, wages fell first and then people started buying cheap goods. It would be easy enough to prove which came first if we had access to the data.
