Is the Chamber of Commerce a "union"?
What constitutes a "union"?

Is it not a group of people that get together to protect and promote their own interests?

Or is a "union" only for those working folks that band together to negotiate with management for better wages and benefits?

Who defines what a "union" is?

6. I thought you might
mean "legion" as in "a large amount of demons." There are all kinds of unions. A marriage is a union. The United States is a union. In the most rudimentary sense, I suppose that the CoC is a type of union; however, the Chamber is not the same as a marriage and it is not the same as a labor union either.

5. Not really

Though they are united in the exploitation of the working class they'd cut each others throats in a New York minute.

7. While "union" can have multiple meanings, a "labor union"...
is quite specific. From Merriam-Webster:

: an organization of workers formed for the purpose of advancing its members' interests in respect to wages, benefits, and working conditions

As a life-long union supporter, I say the Chamber of Commerce can suck my nuts.

11. You pose a valid question in how we frame this.
A fantastic protest sign by fellow DUer & Coloradoan, madamesilverspurs:

:applause:

The Civil War was the Union States vs. the Confederate States. Couples (those who are allowed to wed, that is), are joined in union. And yet the word union in regards to labor is vilified. Very much like how the repubs vilified the word liberal. They really do outshine us on framing.

WHY DON'T THE DEMS HIRE GEORGE LAKOFF? :banghead:
