Disgusted
I am so sick of Democrats buying into the GOP narrative I could scream. Where are the Dems fighting these horrific cuts? Even our President has proposed cuts that will impact the poor, children and at risk women. This is NOT the Democratic Party I know. I am so disappointed in this President and the Dems not being on message.

When will we actually get representation for the poor and the hungry? 20% of children go to bed hungry in this country. I find that inexcusable. I will not vote for any Dem that cuts programs for least among us, weakens Social Security or Medicare. The solution is to end these ridiculous wars and make the rich and wealthy corporations pay their fair share. I am truly disgusted with what I am hearing from Washington these days. 80% of Americans support taxing the rich more fairly. Raise the income caps on Social Security. Where are the Dems fighting for this??

1. When we have a true progressive/socialist/labor party
that isn't reliant upon big money corporate donors for its financing.

And, any prospect of that happening any time soon pretty much died with Citizens United, IMHO.

The only possible way I see this happening is if things get so bad that there is virtual rebellion and millions of right wing voters suddenly realize that the right power elite doesn't give a rats ass what happens to them.

6. That's really the only option we have and that's going to take a while to build
especially in this country.

9. It's so disheartening.
I am a lifelong Dem and I don't recognize the Party these days.

12. I saw a cartoon yesterday
that showed a huge leg wearing expensive slacks and an expensive shoe (representing Wall Street) with Uncle Sam pressed under its foot.

I think that sums up where we are, unfortunately.

2. Disgusting has been my mantra lately... at both parties... for different reasons.
At the repugs for their shortsightedness and selfishness and the Dems for allowing them to get away with it.

I am disgusted at Obama for not really giving us Healthcare reform ... but Health Insurance reform.

10. The party? That's simple...
75% of it is the Pony in the show. Victim of the dog, because that's it's role. The other 25% are pretty helpless.

Bernie Saunders is fighting harder for Democratic ideals that the Dems are.

17. If we keep voting for the lesser of two evils nothing will Change
we need real Progressive alternatives, be they primary challengers or third party candidates. We MUST break with the "status quo" candidates if we're to have any hope of gaining support for traditional Democratic principles. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

18. Extending the Bush tax cuts was TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE
Edited on Wed Mar-09-11 01:49 PM by Martin Eden
Obama and the Democrats should not have budged on extending tax cuts to those making more than 250k/year, or 500k at the most.

No matter how they try to rationalize it and spin it, giving tax breaks to millionaires while slashing programs for education and infrastructure the poor is a REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH upwards. What's going on in our government right now is a script that could have been written by Grover Norquist.

Our Democratic president and the Democratic legislators who agreed to this are either a bunch of spineless surrender monkeys or they simply are not on our side.
