NPR's Ron Schiller Speaks the Truth About Republicans/Teabaggers
So, the felonious and as far as I know, currently on probation for illegally interfering with the phone lines of a U.S. Senater, and also would-be sexual assaulter, bigot, and all round nut job, liar, editor of tapes, James O'Keefe has resurfaced, this time targeting NPR.

Maybe it's just me, (although it seems not judging by some of the comments supporting Schiller attached to articles covering this story), but exactly what did Schiller say that was not 100% true?

Here is what he said to O'Keefe's fake Muslim donors:

Stung: NPR Execs Caught in Candid Chat With Would-be Muslim Donors

The sting operation, produced by conservative activist James O'Keefe, shows NPR fundraisers Ron Schiller (who has since left NPR) and Betsy Liley at lunch with two men masquerading as wealthy Muslim donors. That the NPR people appear to tell the supposed contributors what they want to hear is not an unusual approach for fundraisers.

But against the backdrop of a possible cut off of NPR funding proposed by the GOP-controlled U.S. House, Schiller can be heard saying that "very little of our funding comes from the government." That is correct. Then, talking about the GOP, he adds: "The current Republican Party, particularly the tea party, is fanatically involved in people's personal lives and very fundamental Christian -- and I wouldn't even call it Christian." In answer to a leading question about the tea party movement, he adds, "Basically, they believe in white, middle America, gun toting -- it's pretty scary. They're seriously racist..."

Is there anything in that statement that is NOT true? Have we not seen their racist signs at political rallies, their guns at political rallies?

Just Google 'Republican/Teaparty Racism' if anyone doubts the veracity of that statement.

In fact, imho, Schiller was being kind. He didn't mention, eg, the racist Birthers, some of whom are Republican members of Congress eg.

So, what else did he say that the cowardly media is all in an uproar over?

NPR exec caught on tape calling Tea Partiers 'racist'

In the video, Schiller indicated that he thought it was important that the nation has "Muslim voices in our schools and on our air. I mean it's the same thing we faced when we as a nation didn't have female voice."

Excellently stated by Schiller. Again, an example of O'Keefe's (and the media's) own bigotry that they view this as a 'sting' that exposed something wrong! Unbelievable!

This MSM article claims that his statement about Muslims is NOT what caused the furor!! REally? Then what was the point of the little stunt using Muslims instead of say, Christians?

Have they ever visited Freeper territory to find out what Republicans think of Muslims?

Are they unaware of Republican Rep. King's witch hunt of Muslims among others?

And exactly what would be wrong with accepting donations, which btw, NPR did not, from wealthy Muslims??

Would it be okay if they were NOT Muslims? Apparently that was the point. Thank YOU MSM for exposing your own bigotry.

The story here is NOT the truth spoken by Schiller. It is the acceptance by both NPR and the MSM of O'Keefe's bigoted point of view that to accept donations from Muslims.

The singling out of an ethnic group and smearing them as unacceptable to receive donations from. That is pure BIGOTRY! And typical of every stunt we've seen from O'Keefe the bigot! There is always a not-so-subtle bigotry in his schoolyard stunts and yet, every time, the MSM gives him a pass on this blatant and ugly bigotted garbage.

Notice how he is referred to as a 'film-maker' a 'conservative activist'.

The man is a criminal!!

Could it be that they themselves are secretly in agreement with him? It sure is beginning to look that way.

Schiller is no longer with NPR which apparently has nothing to do with this so-called 'sting'. The sting is on those who are apologizing and criticing Schiller. They have exposed themselves as they give a pass to one of the most vile, prejudiced, criminal, sick individuals in this country today, without once pointing out that there is in fact nothing wrong with taking money from Muslims, unless you are a bigot like O'Keefe.

I really, really hope that Schiller makes no apologies for his statements. He spoke the truth. Imho, he didn't say enough.

We are supposed to get FACTS from the media. And he stated facts. No apologies should ever be made for speaking the truth.

As for the MSM and NPR. Here's a question for them that no one seems to be able to get an answer to and O'Keffe is very scared of whenever it is asked.

WHO IS FUNDING BREITBART & O'KEEFE?? And why will they not answer that question??

What are they hiding and why is the MSM not interested in finding out?

4. Yes, he was. So why are the MSM and NPR 'appalled'
by his truth-telling? He is a fund-raiser who expressed an opinion, which happened to be correct. Yet, NPR is apologizing for the truth.

I guess money trumps everything and they want the funds, which as Schiller pointed out, they should probably try to do without as they are only a small part of the money they get anyhow.

I am at a loss as to why this little weasel gets treated with such deference, O'Keefe I mean, when over and over again he has been caught cheating, lying and even his 'prostitute' girlfriend has dumped him at this point.

Which is why I would like to know 'who is funding HIM, that is making the MSM so frightened to tell the truth about him??

11. Yes, they do it all the time, every time this ugly, rightwing
operative surfaces from the sewer he resides in. They have NEVER addressed the serious issues surrounding his racism and criminal activities, not once. And even when there was no choice after he tried to lure the female reporter to his creepy 'sex' den, it was mild and she never did anything about it.

So, the whole way this sick creep is handled by the media, stinks to high heaven. It is VERY fishy. There is something going on here that I wish someone could find out about.

6. It's only a matter of time before this slimey little creep
does something the MSM can no longer ignore. He is being sued already for his lies about ACORN, something the MSM always choose to gloss over as MSNBC did in the linked article in the OP.

He was caught planning to entrap a female reporter in a 'sex trap' and would have done so had his own colleague not become frightened enough to alert the reporter to what this little slime-bag had in mind.

But is any of this mentioned in these articles? No, this about the extent to which they go in reporting the facts about this psychotic and dangerous abuser:

Two years ago, O'Keefe posed as a pimp and shot videos inside ACORN offices where staffers appeared to offer illegal tax advice and to support the misuse of public funds and illegal trafficking in children. A year later, he and three others were involved in a scheme to record embarrassing hidden camera footage to document allegations Sen. Mary Landrieu ignored calls critical of her stance on health care reform.

If you did not know the facts about the ACORN story, you would think he had succeeded in exposing wrongdoing, when in fact it is HE who is now in trouble for the lies he told. And see how they don't report that he is on probation for what he did to Sen. Landrieu. That statement would lead someone not familiar with the fact that he was charged with a crime and got off with probation in that instance, to believe that Sen. Landrieu was caught doing something wrong.

So, why is the MSM covering for this creep? And is there no one in this country, no investigative journalist, capable of finding out who his sugar daddy is? It must be someone very, very important for the MSM to be so complicit in his crimes.

And oh so conveniently, right at the time they're ramping that up , here goes O'Keefe creating another one of his splice and dice specials to support that.
And, as far as I know, not a murmur about where he gets his funding or who might be working with him on what looks to me like yet another coordinated attack.

12. Yes, I agree. And the issue of where they get their funding
was brought up several times. Eg, Breitbart has been asked and refuses to answer. And when the plot to entrap the female reporter was uncoverd, there was an email published which mentioned that the woman who warned the reporter had had misgivings about O'Keefe was about to do wrote to one of the sponsors of his organization to espress her misgivings. But they would not reveal who those sponsors were.

This sounds like a job for Anonymous. I remember also that O'Keefe had received funds from one of those righwing 'think tanks' when he was in college, can't remember the name of the guy now, but he's fairly well know. But when the ACORN caper was beginning to unravel, he claimed he no longer funded him. However, that was questionable as apparently he had funded equipment or O'Keefe had used money from that organization to buy equipment. They wanted to distance themselves from it at the time, because they are a 'non-profit' and would have been in legal jeopardy if they were funding these political hit jobs.

The whole thing was dropped. But it should not have been, and now it really should be investigated, because someone is funding them, Breitbart et al.

17. Yep, it gets brought up but the MSM doesn't pursue it,
even after he is nailed for falsely manipulating people and the spliced and diced tapes he presents against them, even after busted in a Senator's office while attempting to interfere with communications, even after he's caught out on a scheme to sexually harass (or more) a CNN correspondent. I mean damn, you'd think CNN would have followed that up more, but dropped like a hot potato.

He's just a dumb patsy willing to put himself out there. It is who is funding these efforts that they are afraid.

As I said before, I think this is job for Anonymous. A few internal emails, like the ones they found from the HBGary site, should probably answer a few questions.

I agree with Sabrina. It's not O'Keefe they fear, it's whoever is backing O'Keefe, Breitbart, etc. financially.

Your question still fits with a slight reworking: Why is the MSM afraid of investigating/divulging who his backers are?

24. The evil Scaiffes, should we be surprised?
But thanks for the links, it was Morton Blackwell I was trying to remember, the founder of the Leadership Institute, which is a non-profit. He tried to distance himself from O'Keefe, but they should be exposed. These are the people who are destroying this country. What they do ought to be illegal. Buying a country is not right in any way.

I would love to see Blackwell confronted on this again, and the Scaiffe gang. If a light is shone on these cockroaches who prefer to operate in the dark, hiring disturbed thugs like O'Keefe and Breitbart to their dirty work, they will shrivel up like the bugs they are.

But for some reason, the media is not interested at all. So, we will have to do it as best we can, I guess.

I appreciate the links, have them bookmarked now.

42. Excellent work, suffragette.
'I wonder who's funding him now'. I think he is or was up to the time of the arrest, being funded still by the same people. While we normal people view his illegal antics as abhorrent, to these people he is still a hero. He is Karl Rove in the making.

It's hard to get your mind around the way they think, but getting arrested for what he did, would not exclude him at all from their 'heroes' list. They just let him lie low for a while, and then he's back. They are arrogant and in your face and they do not care what anyone thinks.

The fatal flaw on the left is that we worry about what the right will think. We seem to always be reacting rather than taking the offensive.

I would not be at all surprised if Morton Blackwell is still funding him, maybe in a roundabout way. Eg, he could be funneling money into a different organization and then they pass it along to these clowns.

If someone could link Blackwell, which he's very worried about and has denied funding O'Keefe, to all of this, he would lose his non-profit status at least.

They are daring, you have to give them that. We otoh, if one of our own was caught doing something illegal, or even accused like Van Jones, we drop them and they are smeared for life.

We need to learn from them. When they do somethign like this, instead of apologizing, which is what they expect, use it to go after them. Make a hero of Schilling, be as in your face as they are. Take their weapons and turn them on them.

The only reason they have succeeded is because the left never fights back. We want to be seen as good little boys and girls so when of us is a bit naughty, like Michael Moore, or if the right SAYS they are, we always have that contingency that says we don't want to be seen to be approving of what they do. I say, YES, we DO.

Thanks for that link, I have bookmarded it also.

19. I really wish they would do as Ron Schilling suggested and drop
the government funding. Look at how they are groveling and apologizing now because they are afraid of losing it.

Imagine if they decided they don't want it and the little, shriveled up weasel, O'Keefe got a completely different reaction than the one he counted on. An all out assault on them in the form of a campaign to find out who is funding them.

An article PRAISING Ron Schilling for his statements and backed up with their own words and photos of their racist signs.

But even better would be something we have never yet seen even though the information is readily available, a full exposure of the racism and bigotry of James O'Keefe going back to his now scrubbed blog, but some of which has been preserved. The media KNOWS about this, but refuses to cover it.

Being independent and free to tell the truth is worth foregoing the small amount of funding they receive.

I hope they lose it, it will make them a better news organization.

21. Yes, they tried to get him to say that the 'Jews control everything'
instead, he stated that that was not the case with NPR.

So, again, this 'sting' is on THEM and the media that supports them.

Why, eg, did they not use Christian Donors? If all they wanted to show was that NPR didn't need public funding, why was it necessary to race bait?

Because as Schilling said so correctly that is what they are, racists.

In every 'stunt' orchestrated by these morons, RACE is a major component, and always projecting the sentiments expressed on his blog before he scrubbed, by the very sick, disturbed James O'Keefe. He is obsessed with race. Now, when will the media address this issue?

Better question, why have they NOT addressed wrt to him and Breitbart, especially after the Shirley Sherrod affair which should have left no doubt that these were people with deep-rooted prejudices which they demonstrated over and over again.

My opinion is because someone very powerful is backing them and as we all know, as Steve Colbert pointed out, the media are merely stenographers, reading the memos they are handed.

18. Here's The Rub...
The people Schiller and NPR must suck up to is Congress which is now run by the nutjob division of the rushpublican party. In specific Mike Pence who carries corporate and religious broadcasting water. He'd love to see thousands of public stations lose their federal and state funding and end up in the hands of "religious" broadcasting conglomerates that have been a very useful tool in spreading right wing and fundie lies and disinformation below the media radar.

While what was said is true, to the ears of the appropriators and the majority in the House is was calling their mama names. Of course it's another hatchet job that is easy to discredit, but by Schiller's resignation the story now has legs and the right wing has its red meat and bright shiny toy to play with. They were losing the labor debate...time to create a new "controversy"...

30. I agree, I don't know what they are apologizing for
but it plays right into the hands of those who are orchestrating these 'stings'. I was hoping they would refuse funding, send out a letter to their private donors explaining why, and then go after these treasonous thugs which no one else in the media will do.

Instead they assume the position and grovel and throw a man who appears to have some intelligence, under the bus, calling the truth he spoke 'appalling'.

Maybe they should assess how they will lose more money, by groveling before the likes of O'Keefe (they won't convince me to donate after that embarrassing act) or to lose the government funding (if they then started acting like an independent news org, I would donate to them).

They could have completely undermined these little weasels by laughing at their pathetic efforts, exposing them for what they are and telling Republicans to go shove it regarding funding, something Repubs might regret as the last thing they need is a truly independent media.

25. Well, apparently Schiller was going before this as he had another job. He
is just a fundraiser btw. However, it will not be clarified by the complicit media, and yes I know that it is Congress they need to suck up to, if they want the funding.

Having worked for a private school where we could have gotten funding, looking at the strings attached, all of us decided we would rather take a little less salary than have to suck up to anyone, and have the freedom to run a quality school rather than suffer the interference of bureacrats with no educational background, but plenty of 'advice' to give to those who do, anyhow.

I think NPR should not accept funding from the government. They have changed since the Right has made such a big deal over it. And it has made them less of a newsworthy network as a result.

The source of the information is known for heavily edited fake news. So who * knows what he said and the real context that he said it in. The source of the whole non-story is someone that has no credibility. I think we learned enough from Republican punking videos that there is no reason to bother with them as sources of real information that we need to listen to.

Stupid of them considering the record of the perpetrators involved. They should have laughed and asked how much editing it took this time to get the result they wanted.

Admit nothing and go after THEM. The left has no idea how to fight. When a bully tries to take away their lunch money, they hand it over without a fight.

It's just so disheartening to watch. Caving on Van Jones, on ACORN, even on Shirley Sherrod who had to stand up for herself and fortunately was able to produce evidence of the lies they told. Otherwise, Dems would tossed her also, in fact they did.

they violated that law before and were not prosecuted for it. But, he is as far as I know, still on probation for his last criminal act and I would think that breaking the law in that way would be violation of probation. They do, however, seem to be immune from the laws that affect other people.

41. It couldn't be more obvious than the way the media treats this
criminal. So much deference to a thug, a sick racist.

While other countries are laying down their lives to fight for their rights, here in the U.S. we just hand them over without even a whimper.

Because we are afraid.
