My misguided niece sent me a picture of a sign she wanted me to add to
Edited on Wed Mar-09-11 12:42 AM by arthritisR_US
my Facebook page (a page I had forgotten I have)and the sign said "Tea party Patriot". She wanted my permission and opinion, so I gave it. I said, by all means post it BUT, only with the headliner of EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF AN OXYMORON. She has decided against her idea and has decided that we need a time out.

1. I'm not in tune with FB practices, but why would she want you to put it on your page?
Why doesn't she use it on hers? Sounds like a pushy thing to do. Did she know how you feel about the ridiculous baggers when she asked you?

2. I'm not familiar with FB either and don't use it (although I'm constantly getting emails for family
tree stuff). She may have put it on her own, I haven't checked and ya she knows how I feel given the "discussions" her father (my nephew) and I have had.

3. I think your reply to her was perfect, especially with her baiting you.

4. I'm surprised!
There are "Tea Party Patriots" who understand the meaning of oxymoron?

8. of that I have serious doubts! She is presently getting her GED and
earlier this year I inadvertently blurted out, in the heat of the moment, that she should use her learning opportunity for its higher calling to "get enlightened dammit". But, I am considered the nut case in the family (;-)

5. Interesting story....
...and illustrative of the fact, I think, that many of the rank-and-file in the Tea Party are just ordinary people who, like a lot of us, are desperately trying to figure out how they can be a part of bringing positive change to a horribly managed country that appears to be on the verge of economic collapse.

Misguided, yes, but I think most Tea Partiers are generally motivated by the same wants and desires we are. I hope you and your niece don't give up on each other.

9. When she has ran away from home she runs to my house. She knows that she
can have differing opinions to mine which will do nothing to alter my love for her. When she got in trouble it was me and my daughter she rang to bail her out and on the drive home she said " You hate me now, right?" I told her I didn't like her behavior and what she was doing to herself but I love her dearly and nothing will change that".
