GOP 2012 presidential hopeful Pawlenty suddenly adopts fake southern accent
Hey, if thrice married and multiple adulterer Newt Gingrich can woo the religious right as a family values conservative who claims he banged his mistress on his office desk because he loved his country so darn much, then Pawlenty can adopt a fake accent to trick naive GOP voters:

But the next day at the Statehouse, the talk among several Republicans was that it seemed he had suddenly developed a Southern accent as he tried connecting to voters by speaking louder and with more energy.

The political blog of Radio Iowa heard it too and noted, “Pawlenty seems to be adopting a Southern accent as he talks about his record as governor.” As he spoke of the country’s challenges, he dropped the letter G, saying: “It ain’t gonna be easy. This is about plowin’ ahead and gettin’ the job done.”

2. Sounds like he's been takin' some lessons from Palin.
When Palin wants to try and sound folksy she drops her 'g's.
But if you listen to some of the videos of her 'before' the McCain era, she always used a 'g' on her 'ing' words.

11. Worked for Obama
I don't know if "southern" is the exact accent he adopted, but there was a very apparent accent he would put on whenever it suited him during the campaign, usually when speaking to large rallies. I was surprised he wasn't called on it more. He was pretty good at it, it almost sounded real.
