Get rid of these @#$% "roll over" ads. (e.g., Crisco)
It comes up without a click, just by accidentally passing your mouse over it. If you roll over it again while trying to close it, it pops open a brand new window.

These things are intrusive crap. They are beyond obnoxious. Why do we have to put up with this shit?

Just askin.

5. I think they help pay the bills.
But, yes, they are annoying as hell. I hope DU gets money when their disgusting popups come on.

l avoided Crisco for my entire life, till I moved back here to help in my parents' care. My pie crusts sucked. I finally gave in and bought some of that garbage, and my dad usually likes my pie crusts now. When he doesn't, he just eats everything but the crust.

And, anyway, I'm not sexually adventurous enough to use Crisco for any of its other reported uses.

6. Have you seen those drop down ads?
They're the little banner at the top of the page that drop down and keep moving the page content before they roll back up, moving the page content again. You have to wait for the fucking things to cycle before you can read what you came to read.

They're just as bad. Asshole advertisers need to be up against the wall come the revolution, along with health care CEOs and other enabling vermin.

32. Heh:
By the way if anyone here is in advertising or marketing... kill yourself.

No, no, no it's just a little thought. I'm just trying to plant seeds. Maybe one day, they'll take root - I don't know. You try, you do what you can. Kill yourself.

Seriously though, if you are, do.

Aaah, no really, there's no rationalisation for what you do and you are Satan's little helpers. Okay - kill yourself - seriously. You are the ruiner of all things good, seriously. No this is not a joke, you're going, "there's going to be a joke coming," there's no fucking joke coming. You are Satan's spawn filling the world with bile and garbage. You are fucked and you are fucking us. Kill yourself. It's the only way to save your fucking soul, kill yourself.

Planting seeds. I know all the marketing people are going, "he's doing a joke..." there's no joke here whatsoever. Suck a tail-pipe, fucking hang yourself, borrow a gun from a Yank friend - I don't care how you do it. Rid the world of your evil fucking makinations. Machi... Whatever, you know what I mean.

I know what all the marketing people are thinking right now too, "Oh, you know what Bill's doing, he's going for that anti-marketing dollar. That's a good market, he's very smart."

Oh man, I am not doing that. You fucking evil scumbags!

"Ooh, you know what Bill's doing now, he's going for the righteous indignation dollar. That's a big dollar. A lot of people are feeling that indignation. We've done research - huge market. He's doing a good thing."

Godammit, I'm not doing that, you scum-bags! Quit putting a godamm dollar sign on every fucking thing on this planet!

"Ooh, the anger dollar. Huge. Huge in times of recession. Giant market, Bill's very bright to do that."

God, I'm just caught in a fucking web.

"Ooh the trapped dollar, big dollar, huge dollar. Good market - look at our research. We see that many people feel trapped. If we play to that and then separate them into the trapped dollar..."

How do you live like that? And I bet you sleep like fucking babies at night, don't you?

"What didya do today honey?"

"Oh, we made ah, we made ah arsenic a childhood food now, goodnight." "Yeah we just said you know is your baby really too loud? You know?" "Yeah, you know the mums will love it."

Sleep like fucking children, don't ya, this is your world isn't it?

like the sacramento bee, for instance. i detest these intrustive ads! :grr: another ad thing that pisses me off is where they are placed. oftentimes, they put the ad right where you would normally click for something else, but many times you accidentally get them. slick....and not in a good way.

29. I Agree!
I'm on dial-up, to save money, and these adds drive me nuts! As it is, it takes forever for DU to load, and these ads make it so much worse!

Can't afford to donate, maybe next drive if we're lucky.

I hate having to wait for ages for pages to load. Can't the PTB at DU realize that some of us are just too broke to donate?

Use an adblocker or block ads on DU since you have a donor star. What are you complaining for when you have the ability to not see these ads???

It's simple.

Complaining about something you have the power to do something about easily and for free is just stupid. It's like voluntarily standing in the sun when you so easily don't have to and complaining the sun is baking your head.

34. The ad agency that created that roll-over made it so irritating and intrusive
Edited on Thu Mar-24-11 05:42 PM by Urban Prairie
That many internet denizens will remember it, as intended, but may purchase another brand purely out of spite when they go grocery shopping.

Might even email the company informing them of my intentions to do just that, letting them know that their ad backfired and had exactly the opposite effect. Cursor-activated ads that block most or part of the page are becoming more numerous, ESPN also uses that technique when your cursor passes over the embed links of the least clicked/viewed portions of their website, such as NASCAR and Soccer. If I want to view those pages, then I would click on them, I don't want their unsolicited "help" to navigate their site, and no drop-down links-list that covers a portion of the page that I am viewing will ever change that.
