This bill will never see the light of day. First of all, even WHEN Kasich signs it (which he will), it doesn't go into effect for 90 days. During that 90 days, the Union members will be out in force gathering signatures for a referendum drive. They'll get the requisite number of signatures WITH EASE. When they do, the bill (now law) will be stayed until after it is voted upon, which means it will NEVER go into effect. Then, when the referendum appears on the ballot in November, the 77% of Ohioans who opposed this bill all along will show up and smack this P.O.S. law down with authority. Goodbye, SB 5. Thank you, Republicans, for wasting everyone's time with this nonsense. And how does this help create jobs here in Ohio?
Another upshot of this: the 77% of Ohioans opposed to SB 5 who show up to vote it down will also be voting AGAINST the people who helped pass it (translation: Republicans).
On a side note, I'd like to thank MY Senator, Sherrod Brown, for pointing out this little gem contained in SB 5: it will deny full benefits to the families of slain police officers. So, as you can see, this fight has come down to Union-Busting v. Common Decency. The Republicans have already definitively proven which side THEY'RE on.
