WTF is wrong with these people? Are they saying if there are more airline accidents that's okay as long as they don't have to pay any more in taxes? And what about the JOBS that will be lost? They are saying this goper bill will cut 70K jobs.

These people are INSANE!

Edit to add - the want to cut the people that get you thru security. Oh goody! Those lines aren't long enough!! I want to wait much longer. ugh!

1. Add it to the list
Instead of working on a jobs bill, House Republicans were more interested in:

1. Reading some of the Constitution
2. Re-establishing coverage denials for pre-existing conditions
3. Poking through menstrual fluids for evidence of unimplanted embryos
4. Crashing more commercial planes

5. Don't ya know, the airlines can regulate themselves, the market place will take care of it.
If too many airliners crash, people will stop flying that airline and voila! the airline will go out of business. People will then start flying the safer airline and they will succeed. It's the "miracle of the marketplace."

And of course, nobody should be able to sue for more than funeral expenses if they should happen to be in one of those accidents. That's "tort reform!"

Yes, these people are batshit crazy.

6. there was that story just recently at National, the tower controller falling asleep
b/c clearly you only need the one person to handle tower communications and ground control...two planes landed without any tower communications. I was waiting for the Republican response to be along the lines of "see? Nobody got hurt! We should cut the staffing at all ATC facilities..."

7. I can't see anything bad that could happen with that, not at all. 9/11 didn't change EVERYTHING.
Especially not the FAA and airline security n shit. It's a great idea.

8. The free market will sort things out.
If your plane crashes, and you die, your relatives probably won't fly that airline again. If enough people die, that airline will probably go out of business. Oh, and your estate's executor, if you're lucky enough to leave one, probably won't park the proceeds in the stock of that particular airline, either.

Eventually, the whole thing is self regulating.

Eventually.

Baruch atah ha Shuk, ha dayan Emet.

Blessed be the Market, the righteous Judge.
