Too many men cooking???
So I was driving this weekend and listening to NPR, and this woman comes on complaining there are too many Male celebrity chefs and not enough women!?

WTF?!

The host simply let her rat on about how the Chef industry has too many featured male chefs!
The only think I can think of is to say GO LOOK AT THE CULINARY ACADEMYS!!!!
See how many MEN there are vs WOMEN enrolling!

But no, of course THAT tidbit of information was omitted.
GOD FORBID that you actually make a fair case when you can simply bash men over the head!!!
Does this person even realize or even take one SECOND to think what a man has to go though to become a chef? the ridicule!?

When Bobby flay, or Alton Brown, or me!
A MAN going into cooking is NOT very manly. and there is scorn and ridicule a plenty!
I actually wanted to pursue a cooking career, but my mom of all people told me to stop taking cooking classes when i moved back to her while I was in high school.

This woman was complaining that the top 10 NEW chefs were somehow "unfairly" male 9:1.
I was screaming at the radio that there is a good chance that it's because the number of men v women enrolling (and passing with fling colors) is that ratio!!!

But no... men are bastards!

Now, at 35, im looking at a failed IT career, and really wishing i'd been allowed to pursue my cooking. I'm good at it, and I enjoy it.
I still can, if I drop everything and go into culinary school.
of course that would mean another 20-50k on education, in a field that doesn't pay that much, even when you are top educated.

And as it stands, right now, I can make you a cookie that will trigger a minor orgasm.

One last thing. What pissed me off the most about the interview, was when the interviewer DID bring up food network, it was completely brushed aside, as if it wasn't important.
She ignored that Cat Cora is an Iron Chef, that nearly all the Iron Chefs have one woman, and one man, as their Sous chefs , that Anne (help... something) is one of the top stars on food network right now. Having won BOTH Worst cook competitions, and the chopped all-stars, against her former co-host robert... something. That he was complaining that she KEEP beating him!

So im sorry, where are all the women chefs? And this person didnt even bring up the SINGLE MOST FAMOUS CHEF OD ALL TIME.... Julia Childs! The woman who INVENTED this entire industry to begin with!

what a sexist bastard!

sorry. i just had to get that out of my system.
Im so sick about hearing about how men are so evil and bad and all that bullshit!
Cooking, no matter what, is an area where men get very little respect for being good at it.
We get shit from both other men and women for preferring to cook for a living.
and this person just really got my goat.

2. nah just pissed me off
I'm just getting so tired of this "men can't do anything right" meme.
Men do plenty right, and there's a hell of alot of us who are good men!
I'm just sick of the assumption from women that we all suck.

especially looking at the kind of men women throw themselves at!
*ahem* sorry

3. Once you realize that everyone is entitled to their own opinion...
...but you're not obliged to treat that opinion as if it has any validity, the world is simpler... and more equal.

Reminds me of the posts here complaining because some of the men who lost their careers in the last decade were finally going back to work.

"What about women?" The women were working all along. Hello?

Three of every five people who go to college... any kind of college... are women. The complaint that not enough are represented in the school of (pick any specialty) is without merit. People lucky enough to get into college, and summon the resources to pay for it, can pick any specialty they want.

Ever hear a woman complain that not enough women are employed as plumbers? I haven't, but I've heard many complain about how expensive it is to get one to repair a leaky faucet.

4. Now this is a great statement
"Ever hear a woman complain that not enough women are employed as plumbers? I haven't, but I've heard many complain about how expensive it is to get one to repair a leaky faucet".
Just watch TV and see men get kicked in the nuts punched in the nuts hit in the head or slapped it's all good because we are men. Advertisements are full of this kind of shit. It's time we start speaking out.

7. In the world of commercials
men know absolutely nothing and must depend on women to protect them and explain the world to them.
