1. Its pretty interesting,

her approach seemed pretty even keel to me, and the data she provided really didn't surprise me. The world changes by big or small steps on a daily basis, and this new shift I believe is just another step on our progressive slide of social/gender evolution.

I'm a product of social evolution, from a male basis...I'm in my 30's, and it would be foolhardy of me to state that our American culture hasn't formed or shaped me. Its just a matter of degree on how much those influences has shaped me. Its amazing how much the generational divide has changed, and when I look at that divide, it really puts me in awe, how things have changed.

In my fathers(he was born in early 40s) generation the man was suppose to be the protector of the family, financially support family, make the decisions for the family.

In my generation(I'm in mid 30's), my wife earns a whole lot more than I ever did, damn near 4X the amount I made at my apex (she is the bread winner, I'm the stay at home father), the decisions of household is a joint effort, and the protection of the family is a joint venture. Just one generation, and the changes are vastly different.

I love the notion that women are in the corporate world, butting heads with their male/female counterparts, its a gladiator tank out there, and I'm glad that women are raising in the ranks.

Am I concerned that via the data provided in the link that men/boys are dropping out of education, of course...I wish I knew the answer to why they are dropping out, or why men won't go back...with me, I went to college after High School, for two years. I didn't finish my degree, and went back home and started living a real life, and I learned very quickly that you needed an education, be it vo-tech, or a degree in order to make decent money, so I went back to college after a 5yr hiatus, and finished my degree.

Good video though, lots of stuff to chew on in there....

2. I thought it was interesting too.

The good:
a) women are have reached pay parity for similar work.
b) women are succeeding in school.
c) management, technical and professional doors are wide open for women.

The bad:
a) lack of education increasingly marginalizes men into dangerous fields. If you're not lucky enough to marry well and become someone's "ball and chain" this is where you're stuck.
b) the social belief system is 20 years behind the times. An advocacy infrastructure thrives based on "equality", that actually delivers inequality.
c) the education system is geared neither for the male child, nor his male stay at home caregiver.

The anecdote she gave about attending the DV workshop was fascinating. "You guys are unnecessary. What do you think of that?". It's exactly the slap in the face that the bigger society needs to hear.
