How to Train Your Dragon

As the son of a Viking leader on the cusp of manhood, shy Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III faces a rite of passage: He must kill a dragon to prove his warrior mettle. But after downing a feared dragon, he realizes that he no longer wants to destroy it. So, he befriends the beast -- which he names Toothless -- much to the chagrin of his warrior father in this Oscar- and Golden Globe-nominated adaptation of Cressida Cowell's children's book.

Wonderful animation and a good story. The lighting and surface mapping really make this film. I was involved in conventional animation in another lifetime, and then did some of the first computer animation. All I can say is, you've come a long way, baby. I'm really sorry I missed this one in the theatres in 3-D. I think it probably stands up well to 3-D.
