Recommended: Joan Rivers, a piece of work
OK, I know, i know. When I first saw this, I thought the last thing I wanted to see was a documentary about Joan Rivers. But it really is good.

Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work
2010R 84 minutes
Documentarians Ricki Stern and Annie Sundberg provide an uncompromising glimpse into the personal and professional life of comedian and red-carpet mainstay Joan Rivers, a woman clinging stubbornly and steadfastly to the pop-culture bandwagon. Stern and Sundberg -- whose previous film, The Devil Came on Horseback, covered the Darfur genocide -- take a no-less-intensive approach to their subject here, taking a hard look at fame's bitter toll.

Cast:Joan Rivers, Melissa Rivers, Kathy Griffin, Larry A. Thompson, Don Rickles, Bari Pearlman Director:Ricki Stern, Annie Sundberg Genres:Documentary, Biographical Documentaries, Miscellaneous Documentaries, Blu-ray Format:DVD and streaming (Blu-ray availability date unknown) (HD available)

1. There's another great documentary on Tammy Faye Bakker
Tammy Faye's Eyes. Like you, I thought, "I don't want to see Tammy Faye Bakker." But it's excellent and I came away with respect for Tammy Faye.

2. Thanx...Joannie is amazing..
A true survivor. I hope it mentions Totie Fields. (RIP)

A few years back, I had a dream that Joan Rivers and Peter Townshend  were having an affair.
It seemed so real, I woke up and hunted around the internet to see.

3. I liked it too
I'm still not a real fan of Joan, but I like her a bit better after watching this. I watched this the night after I saw The Don Rickles Project (also streaming).
