Legends of the Guardians -- the Owls of Ga'Hoole
Bridge to Terabitha
Percy Jackson and the Olympians, the Lightning Thief
The Water Horse

1. It depends
I like well done, intelligent family movies. Not as big a fan of animated, Disney type movies. See my list of Netflix movies--there are several family films on it.

2. Me!
I just saw the trailer for Legends of the Guardians. The animation looks fantastic.

I have The Secret of Kells in my queue. It's available on instant play, but I want to see it in Blu-ray.

3. Love watching them with my grandson and granddaughter...
They ask just about the same questions about the movies that
my boys did at similar ages.

We enjoyed PONYO streaming recently.

10. I've practically memorized it..
It was one of my daughter's favorite flicks when she was growing up, we had it on VHS, I must have seen it at least twenty times..

But thanks for the heads-up anyway.

And the FX in this really isn't that bad for its day, you know?

14. So do you still cringe/react when Artax dies?
When I was a kid, I would disappear just like Bastian, to someplace quiet and alone to read. Leave. Me. Alone. Most of the time it worked.

6. I liked Ratatoullie
or however the heck that's spelled. Most children's films are shit though -- didn't even like them as a kid.

7. Most really good children's films
aren't really children's films if you know what I mean. Ratatoulli, for instance, is an animated film, but far from being a children's film.

21. Yes, even my anime-hating friends loved that one
Two other anime for people who think they hate anime are:

1. Grave of the Fireflies: Two orphans try to survive in World War II Osaka

2. Tokyo Godfathers: Three homeless people find an abandoned baby

was ....well... incredible!!

it's not streaming, but worth getting the DVD

Probably my favorite Pixar movie

The Incredibles
2004PG 115 minutes
Bob Parr (voiced by Craig T. Nelson) has given up his superhero days to log in time as an insurance adjuster and raise his three children with his formerly heroic wife (Holly Hunter) in suburbia. But when he receives a mysterious assignment, it's time to get back into costume. Jason Lee, Samuel L. Jackson and Elizabeth Peña lend their voices to this Academy Award-winning Pixar charmer from writer-director Brad Bird.

20. I thought WALL-E was amazing.
Does that qualify as a kid's movie? So many of the jokes and references were meant for the adult audience.
