Any experience w cleaning glass/ceramic gas cooktops?

Hello, I currently have a stainless steel Dacor (worst brand ever pm me if you want my horror stories , not to mention we've discovered they are a born again RW family owned) that I can not get clean (spots from salted past water has permanently stained the surface. I am look to find an easy clean gas top & found that GE profile has a sleek glass/ceramic surface that has gas grates that sit on top. It appears so eay to clean but I read reviews trashing them but praising Dacor, so I'm suspect. Anyone with experience?

as for cleaning glass tops, I had one in PHX and I'd just wipe it mostly, if it got real grungy, a razor scraper followed with some BarKeeper's Friend (available almost anywhere in the scouring powder aisle) did the trick no problem

Doesn't this look easy to clean? I read good reviews until I came across 2 that said it was impossible to clean (streaks etc). I am a litte suspect of these two because they both praised Dacor stainless, which is what I have & hate.

4. dang, that is COOL!!

but i can see the problem with the black glass, anything mirror black like that is tough to keep shiny IME (we'll NEVER own another black car, believe me!)

but i read the care instructions and just like my cooktop in AZ they want ONLY their stuff as did my cooker, but the BKF worked fine. I will add the caveat that my cooker was electric and not a straight glass like that one in the link

3. That does look really nice, and easy to clean. My experience

is not with the glass cooktop like this, but I find that this type of surface will not look good if it is just wiped with a wet dishcloth. You will have to dry and buff it to keep it from showing streaks, especially the black.

And you probably know this, but when you start to read reviews, there will be all different views. And you never can know what the motivation of the person writing the review might be. You say that there were a lot of good reviews, and a few panning it. If you get into reading reviews, you have to look for trends---mostly good or mostly bad. I find that reading reviews is a double-edged sword.

And hey, if you really wonder and can find this cooktop in a store, find out if they will let you try out cleaning it. If the store is reliable and really want you to be satisfied with your purchase, they would let you put some bacon grease on it and clean it off to see how easy it is.

6. I have a black glass cooktop

though it's electric, not gas. I've never seen that combo before. Interesting.

Anyway, the glass cleans up fine with distilled white vinegar. SO used soft scrub on it to get the crusties off (I'm fond of my cast iron. ) But I suspect baking soda would work just as well. WV gives a streak free shine. :-)
