Oranges will eliminate almost any bad odor
Lemons are good, too. Just cut oranges or lemons into quarters, lay them out in the bad-smelling area, and you'll love the results. Burned food, chemical odors--you name it, they'll absorb it. I wouldn't live without them!

1. So will peppermint oil.
Learned that trick from a vet tech. Just pour some onto a piece of cotton in a small dish, and set it on a shelf or window sill. I'll have to try the citrus trick, as they're generally cheaper than peppermint oil. :-)

3. cider vinegar works pretty well and
a bonus of peppermint oil is it repels rodents. Ever since they set up housekeeping in a little used car in my garage and I had to have the seats etc taken apart and cleaned, I've kept old open pill bottles in the car with peppermint oil saturated cotton stuff in them.
