75. Why hasn't anyone sued these Phelps people?
If my child died, and these people showed up with their bag of dirty tricks, why
couldn't I sue for intentional infliction of distress and emotional damages? If they
held signs, suggesting that my child deserved to die--when my child had no connection
to their "causes"--knowing that it would cause me pain--how can they get away with this?

Couldn't one successfully argue, in civil court, that these sickening hatemongers
intentionally try to inflict harm and distress--to people who have never provoked
them or even know them.

For example, if they show up at the miner's funerals--isn't that just an opportunistic
person looking for personal gain and attention--by inflicting pain on another person?

I know these people have First Amendment right. But there are limits to the First
Amendment. You can't yell, "Fire!" in a crowded theater. You can't just walk
up to someone and start threatening them.

Showing up at a funeral, for someone that is not connected to any of their deluded
gripes---just to garner media attention--feels like intentional pain.

I'd sue them if they did this to me. In a heartbeat.
