quite wrong: it's that the conservatives have pushed for the corporations (or "free-market" libertarian small capitalism, which is NOT the opposite of "monopolism") since the 20s, and the liberals have been successively purged in the 50s and since the 80s, leaving only the label

there's no necessity for the US to have such wretched statistics: but with the "liberal" party full of Moynihans and Blanche Lincolns and stalking horses, and our Kucinichs folding when pushed, things will stay the way they are even if every company worth more than $10M was dismantled
