8. When Reagan first ran for governor of California, my landlord,
who was a known movie star, started spitting nails about it. He said that he had been President of the Screen Actors Guild, the union for actors, and that he had done a terrible job because of his conservative policies. He just couldn't run for governor because he would run the state into the ground. We all sank into a dark funk when he was elected.

Never mind that years later, he also screwed up the country as President. Clinton managed to undo some of the damage from his economic policies for eight short years and here we are again, with the Reagan economic legacy worse and darker than ever, and a bunch of chickenhawks leading us into endless war on top of it.
