let's see... a reminder of a few items that don't get continual play:
the Dept of Agriculture prevents farmers from testing all of their beef for mad cows disease as a way for opening markets back up (such as Japan) who will not currently import US beef (don't trust our "safety standards".. cite it as a public health issue)... because large meat producers don't want to be forced (by ... public consumption of OTHER producers who do test... er... competition) to do the same.
the Dept of the Interior continuing to reclassify public lands to give mining rights to private corporations with absolutely zero benefit (not even a cut of the profit going back to the public coffers) for the public who own and maintain the lands through taxes.
Now why would they make these decisions... follow the campaign and lobbying money trail.
How many more can folks pull up off the top of the head that point to huge conflict of interest.. the more "obscure" cases the blatant decisions that go against the public interest but that don't get ongoing news coverage.
