In Michigan, every time a US soldier (or sailor/airman/marine) is killed in Iraq or Afghanistan - Gov Granholm is ordering the flags to half staff for a day.
Reagan's recent death has made this a less-than effective honor, but I'm curious what other states or cities do.
I have a dead classmate from college, (Maj. Nave USMC) and a cousin by marriage I think about when I see the flag at half staff now.
