My family has done that for years and it makes it affordable for everyone. Everyone seems to enjoy and doesn't act like they are missing out. We also have each person unwrap (youngest to oldest) so that everyone can see what they got.
Oh and when we draw names, we have each person write down three things they would like on the paper that gets drawn.
