vacuum cleaners always lose the ability to clean (although Dyson says it does not, and I have no idea if this it true). That is how the door-to-door salemen were always able to sell vacuums. A new vacuum will amaze you every time!

BTW, does your vacuum have attachments? Are they easy to use? I have always had canisters since I spend more vacuum time with stairs and furniture than I do on the floors, and uprights do not seem set up to use attachments easily.
