...probably my favorites were those little plastic animals. They all said "Made in Hong Kong" on the bottom in those days. They weren't articulated action figures or anything exceptional, but I had hours of adventure with them out in my sandbox, and also indoors, having built lego homes for them and worked out all sorts of stories and character interactions among them.
Oh, and the plastic dinosaurs! Same as the above, they were all characters to me who interacted and formed friendships and enmities and experienced grand adventures. Mine were like these, only in nicer colors:
