... depending on where they were made, etc.

I remember somewhere in Connecticut, I think it was back in the 70s, the government passed a fat luxury tax on things like yachts (something like 70-90%). It basically caused a shipbuilder to go out of business, and lots of people out of work.

Yacht manufacturers, at least in the US, generally pay well. I'd rather rich people spend their money on something that hardworking men and women manufactured rather than invest it with a bunch of crooks.
