I have the dubious pleasure of having to drive through Rockingham County on the way to and from work every day. That's the home of wingnut central, junk cars rusting under rebel flags, and tattered McFailin signs still up in yards and on pickups with 88 on the back window. ("88" in case you didn't know is short for "heil hitler".) It's also home of Sam Paige, NC's "law'n'awdah" answer to Joe Arpaio.

Needless to say, this gay man obeys the speed limit and keeps moving right through, don't bother nobody.

To hear ANYbody getting booted out for anti-gay slurs in Reidsville shocks the living shit out of me.

Is there hope for Redneckiana? Did lightening strike? Weird. Very, very welcome news, but weird nonetheless, knowing the area like I do.
