This is really stupid handling of this - as Brown could have ended this by saying he thought it wrong and the staff now had explicit rules forbidding anything like that. Continuing his hiding from ever speaking to the media - not on his own terms, is both arrogant and stupid.

I hope that this wakes all campaign people up as to the damage they can do by getting involved with things like this.
