India May Attack Certain Targets In Pakistan, Military On High Alert

New Delhi, India (AHN) - Indian military is ready for an operations against "precision" targets in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, if the neighboring country fails to cooperate in pinning down the terrorists in its country, according to a report by a U.S. private intelligence company.

Pakistan is under pressure from the West and the Indian government to dismantle terrorists cells and crack down on Islamic militants, who seeked safe haven in the country.

"These most likely would take the form of unilateral precision strikes inside Pakistan-administered Kashmir, along with special forces action on the ground in Pakistan proper," Global Intelligence Service, Stratfor said in its latest report, according to PressTV news agency.

"Sources have indicated to Stratfor that New Delhi is going through the diplomatic motions in order to give Pakistan the opportunity to take care of the militant problem itself - but the Indians know that Islamabad has neither the will nor the capability to address their concerns," the agency said.

On Nov. 26, terrorists killed 164 people in India in attacks targeting Mumbai's central railway station, two five-star hotels, a Jewish center and a hospital. In addition, eight militants were killed by the security forces.

India has consistently said that it has evidence against a certain "elements" who are operating from Pakistan, but some of the political analysts said that India is not likely to risk war by escalating the situation.

Last week, U.K. Prime Minister Gordon Brown made an unexpected stopover in India to meet with his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh to talk on the security situation in the region, after the country faced brutal terror attacks in Mumbai.

Pakistan said that the security forces have detained several dozens of members liked to militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), which is being accused of planning the Mumbai attacks.

"New Delhi has little choice but to respond," Austin, Texas-based Stratfor said in a report today on Saturday, according to Bloomberg. "And if Islamabad will not cooperate in controlling the militants, India will have to take unilateral action."

The report said India has increased its alert level and has Border Security Force prepared for any potential attack on Dec. 18. India has around 45,000 troops deployed along the 2,030-mile border with Pakistan, Stratfor said.
